TAPA FSR - Facility Security Requirements
Improving protection from theft of cargo products in transit storage, warehouses and distribution centres.
TAPA FSR is a standard of the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) a global association of security professionals and related business partners which unites global manufacturers, logistics providers, freight carriers, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders with the common aim of reducing and preventing losses from international supply chains.
What is TAPA FSR
The FSR standard is for organizations operating, storage, warehousing and distribution facilities either at single or multiple sites.
- It sets minimum acceptable security standards for in-transit storage and warehousing facilities.
- By including risk assessment, management system and physical security measures requirements, the standard helps build supply chain security and resilience.
- It is reviewed every three years to ensure it continues to meet validity expectations and to address new or emerging threats to supply chain security.
- The scheme is not limited to TAPA members. It can be applied by all companies dealing with in-transit storage and warehousing.
Benefits of becoming certified
The TAPA FSR standard offers three levels of certification by the Association’s approved Independent Audit Bodies as well as a self-certification option. Among the benefits of certification are:
- Establishment of an effective physical security system to reduce the loss of high-value assets.
- Cost saving on insurance fees due to reduced losses and effective risk assessment.
- Improved inventory security and maintaining competitive advantages of 'just-in-time' deliveries.
- Access to TAPA professional assistance from the global incident reporting centre.
- Integrating TAPA FSR principles within other management systems.
